How to Use Your OLEEK Memories Book

Everything you need to know about loading videos, maintaining your device, and getting the best experience.

Loading Videos (Step-by-Step)

1Charge Your Device (First Time)

Connect the USB cable to the charging port and plug into a USB power adapter. The indicator light will show red while charging, green when complete. First charge takes 3-4 hours.

2Connect to Your Computer

Close the device cover, connect the USB cable to your computer. Wait 10–15 seconds for recognition.

  • PC: Device appears in File Explorer under "This PC" as "MediaPlayer (D:)" or similar drive letter
  • Mac: A drive icon labeled "MediaPlayer" appears on the desktop and in Finder

3Copy Your Video Files

Open the MediaPlayer drive. You will see these folders:

  • Video — put your MP4 files here
  • Music — for audio files
  • Photo — for images
  • LOST.DIR — system folder, leave it alone

Drag and drop your converted MP4 files into the Video folder. A 2 GB video typically takes 2–5 minutes to copy.

Pro tip: Rename files with numbers to control playback order — e.g. 01_ceremony.mp4, 02_reception.mp4.

4Safely Eject the Device

Important: Don't just unplug! Use "Safely Remove Hardware" (PC) or "Eject" (Mac) to prevent file corruption.

5Test Playback

Disconnect from computer, ensure device is charged (at least 20%), and open the cover. Your video should start playing automatically within 2-3 seconds.

Best Video Settings

Recommended Settings

  • ✓ Resolution: 1080p (1920×1080)
  • ✓ Format: MP4 with H.264 codec
  • ✓ Frame rate: 30 fps
  • ✓ Aspect ratio: 16:9
  • ✓ Audio: AAC, 128 kbps

Avoid These Settings

  • ✗ 4K or higher resolution (wastes storage)

  • ✗ Vertical video (large black bars)
  • ✗ Very old formats (WMV, AVI from 2000s)

When to Convert Your Videos

Use our free converter if your video is:

  • Won't play when tested on device

Common Mistakes to Avoid

Troubleshooting

Working With Large Videos (Over 5 GB)

Professional wedding or event videos can easily exceed 5 GB. The standard Convert Video tool supports files up to 5 GB. For anything larger, use the Split & Convert tool.

How Split & Convert works

  1. Upload your video — any size, via our secure multipart uploader.
  2. Automatic segmentation — the tool reads the video duration and divides it into equal-time parts, each no larger than 4.5 GB.
  3. Cloud conversion — all parts are converted simultaneously on AWS using the same device-optimised settings (H.264, 1080p, 30 fps).
  4. Download all parts — individual download links appear for each part when ready. Copy them all onto your OLEEK device.
Pro tip: Rename parts before copying them to your device so they play in the right order — e.g. 01_wedding_part1.mp4, 02_wedding_part2.mp4.
